Sadly, there is still a stigma about being a slow reader or being put in a special class. No parent wants their child to be forced to carry around one of these labels. To give your child a fighting chance to read and learn normally, you need understand two things…

First, dyslexia is not just switching letters. And it’s not simply a phonics problem. If it was, then phonics would work for every child and everyone would be “hooked”—but it doesn’t.

Second, difficulties with math, reading and spelling are commonly caused by dysfunction in specific areas in the left hemisphere of the brain. Visual processing, sound processing, memory and processing speed are all compromised when the left hemishpere of the brain is not functioning properly.
